The Qubic Steering Committee (SteCo) returns with a dynamic update summarizing key developments over the past two weeks—in governance, tech infrastructure, marketing, community coordination, and operations. Most importantly, Project X has now fully launched and is shaping the future of the ecosystem.
Governance highlights & project X launch
SteCo has officially introduced Project X, composed of four integrated pillars designed to promote both sustainability and growth:
- Protocol Extension — Enables computors to reroute part of their weekly emissions toward ecosystem-approved initiatives.
- Computor Controlled Fund (CCF) — A decentralized treasury facilitating grants, development, marketing, and community projects, powered by an 8% emissions redirection.
- New Emission Model — Implements an immediate 15% emissions cut and annual halvings, aiming to cap total supply at 200 trillion QUBIC.
- QEarn — A staking mechanism that rewards long-term holders, redistributes early exit penalties, and burns some tokens to reduce circulating supply.
Technology rolling forward
- Qubic Wallet is now localized in multiple languages and live on both iOS and Android—enhancing accessibility globally.
- The RPC/API has been upgraded to Version 2, and a brand-new stats‑API is currently in testing.
- Initial implementation of the Protocol Extension—the core tech layer behind Project X—has begun.
- Technical AMA sessions for the community are scheduled to launch on August 19, providing transparency into the development process.
- Qubic has onboarded two new experts—Mr. David Vivancos and Dr. José Sánchez‑García—as members of its Scientific Advisory Committee, with additional recruitment underway.
Marketing & growth momentum
- Production is underway for official Qubic-branded Hashwallet cold-storage cards.
- The team welcomed two new content creators: iam333 (technical writing) and CrytpoDeighs (X/Twitter content).
- Significant progress is being made on user and developer documentation, and three potential marketing agencies are being evaluated for partnership.
Grants & developer ecosystem
- Seven grant proposals have been submitted and are under review, with the first application cycle closing on August 31, 2024.
- Developers have raised concerns about building smart contracts in C++, prompting efforts to improve documentation, outreach to universities, and creation of developer-friendly testing environments.
Community coordination & operations
- A new “qubic-team” role on Discord has been introduced to streamline coordination among internal contributors.
- Bots for onboarding, moderation, and security are currently in testing.
- The public roadmap has been updated on Notion, including clearly defined objectives and measurable results.
